Job Description

Energy Market Manager

  • Newly created role at rapidly growing renewable energy company
  • Excellent remuneration and benefits
  • Flexible working arrangements

Eastland Generation is in a phase of accelerated growth, with a sizeable renewable energy portfolio of 118MW. We own and operate four geothermal power plants, a hydro station and a solar farm, and more projects are in development.

If you’re looking to join an innovative and exciting company and want to make an impact in a newly created role, here’s the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of our electricity sales portfolio, hedge book, and carbon positions, delivering strong commercial outcomes in dynamic energy and emissions markets.

From contract negotiation through to forecasting and market analysis, you’ll balance risk and opportunity while driving portfolio optimisation. You’ll also optimise value across contracts, hedge instruments, and green certificates, using strong market insight, financial modelling, and disciplined risk management to balance opportunity, compliance, and performance.

Who we’re looking for

You will be recognised and respected within the industry and have a strong understanding of the New Zealand electricity wholesale market.

  • 5+ years in energy trading, portfolio management or energy finance.
  • Proven track record with hedge book management and strategies, financial modelling and risk analysis, derivative instruments and commercial decision-making.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and market compliance.
  • Degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics or equivalent field.
  • CFA, FRM or postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • Systems literacy in SAP, Power BI or similar.

Why join us?

At Eastland Generation, we take pride in creating a high performing workplace where our people feel valued, supported and inspired. We offer a competitive salary and an exceptional range of employee benefits, including a generous insurance package, fitness subsidy, and a nine-day fortnight.

We’re flexible in how this role is structured, including working arrangements and location. While the role can be based outside Kawerau, regular time on site is important as the wider team is based there.
