Eastland Generation is a rapidly growing renewable energy developer and operator, with a portfolio of geothermal, hydro and solar plants on the East Coast of the North Island. We have a strong pipeline of new projects, with further geothermal and solar plants planned. We’re looking for a Financial Controller to step in at this pivotal time and support the business in making informed, strategic financial decisions.

This is a senior financial role, and a rare one, with the chance to play a vital role in the continued success of an industry innovator.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of financial reporting, compliance, audit, and close processes, ensuring strong financial integrity and governance across the organisation. With oversight of finance operations, systems, technical accounting, treasury, tax, and capital management, you’ll work closely with the CFO and leadership team to support planning and forecasting, provide insight on risk and performance, and help build capability across the finance function.

Who we’re looking for

With at least 10 years’ accounting experience, you will have spent 3–5 years in a senior finance role with leadership or coordination responsibilities. You will be respected for your strong analytical thinking, business acumen, and collaborative approach.

• Proven expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, audit preparation, risk management and capital project support.
• A sound understanding of treasury operations, compliance with IFRS and financial systems oversight.
• Experience in the energy, infrastructure, or utilities sector is advantageous, and knowledge of capital-intensive and regulated environments will be beneficial.
• Chartered Accountant (or equivalent post graduate accounting qualification).
• Proficient in business intelligence tools and Microsoft Excel. Experience with SAP, BPC, Cognos, Certent, or similar ERP and reporting systems is preferred.
